VPNInfobaseIPVanish is a US service that Ziff Davis lists in its annual report. It says it does not log traffic content or browsing but does keep session details such as start time, duration and volume. Its first-year price is $3.89 a month and renews at $99.99 a year, so the real cost is higher.
What the logging policy says it keeps
IPVanish’s no-log policy says it does not log traffic content or destinations, browsing, DNS queries or app usage. It also says it keeps a username, the starting IP address, session start time, duration and traffic volume to prevent abuse. That is more than the “nothing at all” wording some providers use, and it is stated openly. The same policy also lists connection time stamps among what it does not retain, so both lines sit side by side on the page. It says its servers are moving to RAM-only and are on track to be fully so by 2027, so today’s fleet is partly RAM-only by its own account.
Ownership and jurisdiction
IPVanish’s privacy policy names Ziff Davis, Inc. as its parent, and Ziff Davis’s FY2025 10-K lists IPVanish among its services. The 10-K also names CNET and PCMag among Ziff Davis’s brands; see the ownership table for what that does and does not mean. The privacy policy lists an address at 360 Park Avenue South, New York.
Audits and one past incident
Two no-logs audits are on record: Leviathan Security Group (April 2022) and Schellman Compliance (finalised February 2025, announced April 2025 per press coverage). The Schellman report sits in the account portal, so a non-customer cannot open it. The register records no app or infrastructure penetration test. See the audit tracker.
In 2018 TorrentFreak reported, from court documents, that under a 2016 Homeland Security summons IPVanish’s then-owner supplied a subscriber’s account details, IP address and connection times, having first replied to an earlier summons that it did not log usage information. TorrentFreak names a different company as the service’s operator then. It is a press account of documents, not IPVanish’s own, and it predates both audits above. TorrentFreak’s article of 5 June 2018 also reports the later operator, StackPath, saying IPVanish does not, has not and will not log or store its users’ logs as a StackPath company. Price: what the first year turns into
Read on 29 September from a cached copy of the vendor’s page (the site itself was not reachable to our reader), all in USD: Essential at $3.89 a month for the first year ($46.68), renewing at $99.99 a year, and $2.39 a month for two years ($57.36) with the same renewal. Averaged over 36 months by the renewal price table method, that is about $6.85 and $4.37 a month. Other price trackers show different two-year figures from other promotion dates, so confirm at checkout. Refund: 30 days on yearly and two-year plans, monthly plans not covered automatically.
Who it fits, going by the register fields
- Pick it if an audit by a named firm matters, you accept that session details are kept and you have priced the renewal.
- Look at others if you want no session data kept, a non-US operator or open-source clients. Mullvad says it keeps no activity logs of any kind; PIA has a flat renewal.
