About VPNInfobase

VPNInfobase is an independent research publication. It compiles what can be checked about VPN providers and links every fact to its source.

Last updated 1 October 2026

What we publish

The VPN ownership and audit register records, for each provider, the parent company and ultimate owner, the jurisdiction, independent audits (auditor, date, scope and report link), incidents, the vendor's logging claim, and the price per month for the term you are billed. Reviews, comparisons and price tables are built on it, and guides explain how VPNs work.

How pages are researched

We read the vendor's own pricing, terms, privacy and audit pages first, then the auditors' pages and reports, then GitHub for client source, then named news outlets for incidents. Each field links to the page it came from and carries the date we checked it. Where only a secondary source such as Wikipedia was available, the field says so. Where nothing could be found, the field says "not verified" instead of guessing.

We do not run speed tests, and we do not publish speed figures or scores. If an independent tester publishes measured results, we may cite them by name with a link. Logging and RAM-only entries are the vendor's claims, paraphrased. An audit tests a claim within a scope on a date; the register shows that scope and date rather than a badge.

Every fact is checked against its cited source, and each page gets a separate review pass before it is published. See how we research for the source hierarchy and confidence labels, and the editorial policy for independence and update cadence.

The full method, known weaknesses and change history are printed at the bottom of the register page. Prices and refund terms are re-checked every 90 days; ownership, audits and incidents every 90 days or on news.

Who publishes this

The VPNInfobase editorial team, an independent research publication, live since June 2026. This is a small publication; we do not use personal bylines or invented reviewer profiles, and nothing on the site claims first-hand testing.

How the site earns money

Some links are affiliate links. Today that is NordVPN only: those links go through /go/nordvpn/, are marked sponsored, and sit after the facts, never above them. Every other provider link is a plain link that earns nothing. A commission never changes what the register records. See the affiliate disclosure.

Corrections

If a fact is wrong or out of date, email hello@vpninfobase.com with the page URL and, if you can, the source that shows the correct fact. Corrections are logged with the date on the corrections log and, for register records, in the register changelog.
