Surfshark vs CyberGhost

Published By VPNInfobase editorial

Compiled from providers' published information and public documentation.

Both are cheap on a long plan and both have Deloitte no-logs reports. CyberGhost publishes its latest report for download and gives a 45-day refund window; Surfshark links public technical reports and gives 30 days. CyberGhost’s renewal is stated (and lifts its cost to about 2.90 a month in either currency); Surfshark’s is not.

Both vendors’ pages show the same long-plan numerals in euros and in US dollars, depending on the copy served, as read on 29 September. CyberGhost’s one-month price differs (EUR 11.99, USD 12.99). Check the currency at checkout. Method and the 36-month average are on the renewal price table.

What the table says

Price. CyberGhost’s headline is lower, but a 36-month view adds its renewal and Surfshark’s cannot be added at all. Do not read the EUR 2.49 as the cost of year three.

Audits. Both hold Deloitte no-logs assurance. Beyond that they differ: CyberGhost’s is one firm and one kind, with a report anyone can read; Surfshark’s no-logs reports need an account, but it links penetration-test reports for its infrastructure and apps. The audit tracker shows this split for every provider.

Owner. Different groups: a merger announced with Nord Security on one side, Kape (which also owns ExpressVPN) on the other. See the ownership table. Neither names an individual owner on the pages we read.

Pick by need

  • The longest refund window: CyberGhost, 45 days on long plans.
  • Public technical reports to read: Surfshark.
  • A cost you can work out for years two and three: CyberGhost, on its stated renewal.

The old version of this page listed server counts, device limits and jurisdiction rankings we could not source on the day; they are removed. Details: Surfshark review, CyberGhost review. Researched from vendor pages; not a measured comparison.
